Why art therapy?
Art therapy is an approach that combines talk therapy with creativity. While creating art, you'll primarily communicate visually to express your inner emotions, experiences and feelings. Being guided through an exploration of the art provides an opportunity to increase your self-awareness, strengthen your self-expression and find personal meaning.
What does a session look like?
To settle into the space and ease into art making we usually start with a doodle, art game or check-in that relates to how you are feeling today.
Beginning
This is our art making time! We will either continue with a thread of what came up from our warm up activity, I might provide you with an invitation to create something more specific or you can be spontaneous.
Middle
Before you go we take a look at your art to explore and reflect a message it may have for you. I may ask a couple questions about your art to find some additional insight.
